XEAMOS was founded as a joint venture by NPS Diesel and Solfic Energy & Emission back in 2017. A decade ago Solfic initiated an extensive R&D program to develop exhaust after treatment systems for specific marine and industrial applications. As a well known solution supplier for marine engine emission reduction in The Netherlands, Solfic has established its name in the maritime industry. In the meantime NPS Diesel established an almost worldwide sales and service network for superyacht generators. Combining the strenght of both companies, Solfic and NPS Diesel set out on a mission together to provide a new after treatment service. This is how Xeamos came to life: a brand new company, but founded on years of exprience and knowledge. Based in the Netherlands, we serve both superyacht shipyards as well as superyacht owners.
Since January 2019, when Xeamos and Solfic merged, the company officially continues under the name Xeamos B.V.
Soot free diesel exhaust gases are the new standard. Dirty swimming water, the smell of diesel fuel and particulates on deck aren't appealing to yacht owners, who are more and more aware of the impact of diesel engines on their boat and their environment. Authorities are more restrictive when it comes to exhaust gases and the public demands liable use of combustibles.
Latest IMO Tier III NOx level legislation affects superyachts sailing in emission control areas for new built, either major conversion after first of January 2016 that are above 500 GT and have engines of more than 130 kW. Designated NOx Emission Control Areas (ECA) currently are the North American and Carribean coastal waters. The North Sea and Baltic Sea are scheduled to become ECA in 2021 while other territories are expected to be designated in the near future.
